AGWA Course 2: Find Discharge Workflow
Use AGWA's Find Discharge Workflow to compute peak discharge and hydrographs at any point in a calibrated GSSHA watershed for multiple design storms.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course teaches you how to use AGWA's Find Discharge Workflow to compute peak discharge and full flow hydrographs at one or more user-defined locations within a GSSHA watershed model. You will learn when and how to apply the workflow, how to prepare required inputs, how to execute all workflow steps in AGWA, and how to interpret, export, and document results in an engineering report.
Estimated time: approximately 1 hour reading; 90 minutes with hands-on practice.
Recommended browser: Chrome.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completing this course, you will be able to:
- Explain what the Find Discharge Workflow does and identify its appropriate use cases.
- Describe the key assumptions built into GSSHA design storm simulations and list situations in which the workflow should not be used.
- Prepare required inputs, including point shapefiles in WGS84 geographic coordinates packaged as a ZIP file.
- Execute all workflow steps: log in, select a model, create a workflow, place evaluation points, select design storm scenarios, run the simulation, and review results.
- Interpret hydrograph outputs, peak flow tables, and time series data from the results tabs.
- Apply a QC checklist to verify that results are physically reasonable.
- Export results in appropriate formats and incorporate them into a professionally structured engineering report.
